Jordan Howard: The Long Awaited Arrival

On the 28th of March 2019, Howie Roseman made a really impressive trade with the Chicago Bears to acquire RB Jordan Howard. Howard who is on the last year of his rookie deal ($2 million), was once the viewed as the Bears’ franchise back but the downhill runner saw less playing time last season. Tarik Cohen who is undoubtedly more elusive and shifty than Howard received more and more playing time as the season went on which saw #24 take a reduced number of snaps. Howard insisted he was happy in Chicago even though he was essentially demoted to the #2 RB on the depth chart throughout last season but we’ve all seen this story before.

Now for the longest time I have wanted the Eagles to trade for Howard as I fell in love with his palying style ever since his first year in the league (2016). Last year I was really hoping Howie was going to make a trade for Howard as I feel he can be part of the solution at the running back position. His big, dominant play style is something the Eagles missed last year after the departure of LeGarrettte Blount after the Super Bowl LII victory. Josh Adams simply wasn’t effective although I do think he has potential as it was his first season last year and did have some injury concerns throughout that span.
